Cats are great companions, but there are a lot of different breeds. Among them is the Siamese cat, a cat known to be intelligent, sleek, and elegant. Siamese cats were even the companions to royalty at one time. If you are also a Siamese cat lover, there is no doubt that you have wondered where some good places to find one would be.

There are tons of places in the USA to find a Siamese cat, but it can be difficult to tell if you would be purchasing from a reliable source or not. So, to save you some time and research, this article will go more in-depth about where to locate a great place to purchase or adopt Siamese cats.

The 3 best places to find a Siamese cat are:

  • Rescue Centers
  • Animal Shelters
  • Breeders

Let’s take a look at three of the best places to find Siamese cats, one of the smartest cats!

If you are wondering what the best products are for your cat, check out this article that will break down all my recommendations for you: Things To Buy For A Cat Right Now!

1.  Siamese Cat Rescue Centers

A majority of prospective cat owners do not realize that there are often rescue facilities that specialize in one breed of cat. Because of this, the prices for adopting a Siamese cat from a rescue can be considerably lower than other ways of getting one.

Some great Siamese rescues can be found in the following cities in the United States:

  • Locust Dale, Virginia
  • Agoura Hills, California
  • New York, New York
  • Pinckney, Michigan

Many other locations have a Siamese rescue center. If you are interested in locating one near you, you need to look up “Siamese rescue center near me.”

Animal Shelter vs Rescue

Even though many people may use these two terms interchangeably, there are some differences between the two. People can become confused about the differences between animal shelters and rescues, and it is important that you know about them.

For animal shelters, usually, you will have a wide variety of animals there, not just cats. There can be anything from dogs to bunnies! As far as animal rescues go, there are often specific cat rescues for different cats. They are also typically smaller than most general animal shelters.

2.  Siamese Cat Animal Shelters

Siamese Cat

People tend to believe that animal shelters are reserved only for stray cats and mixed breeds that are not purebred, but this is not always the case. Any kind of pet can accidentally run out of the house or escape from its leash, including those that are purebred or have an expensive pedigree.

If you consider adding a Siamese cat to your life, you may not have to look very far to find one. If you adopt a Siamese cat from a shelter, you will be saving that precious cat from a potentially dark future.

Benefits of Adopting from an Animal Shelter

Once an animal enters a shelter, it may not realize that it will never have the life that many pets get to have. And as sad as those shelter commercials on T.V. can be, they are the reality for many animals, Siamese cats included. However, when you decide to adopt from a shelter, there are some of the benefits that you will discover to be true.

For starters, getting an animal from an animal shelter is much less expensive than buying from a professional breeder.

Additionally, adopting instead of shopping for your cat means no money going towards harmful places like animal mills. A few other benefits of adopting a Siamese cat from an animal shelter are:

  • If you already have animals at home, your Siamese cat will understand how to interact with them better than a small kitten would.
  • Most cats from a shelter will have already been vaccinated and microchipped before you even visit, so you will not have to worry about that.
  • If they have come from a previous home, they are more than likely litter box trained.
  • You will already be able to see how the cat acts at the shelter and get an idea of how it will act at your home.
  • You will get to give a cat life that it never thought it would have.

Besides the benefits for the cat, you will more than likely find out that the shelter cat is benefitting you too. Not only will you feel like a helpful human being, but you will also feel unconditionally loved by an animal that you have saved.

3.  Buying from a Cat Breeder

Although society may say that adopting a cat is the best option, that does not mean that purchasing one from a breeder makes you an immoral or awful person. Regardless of how you get your Siamese cat, you will be giving it a life that many animals do not get to experience in their lifetime.

If you are buying from a breeder, there are a few things that you need to make sure of before you continue with the purchasing process.

How Do I Find a Responsible Breeder?

You may have heard from a distant family member or friend that a nearby breeder is excellent to work with and buy from. While this may be true, it can easily also be false. Here are some ways to find out if your breeder is reputable or not:

  • Look at the reviews on their website or Facebook page to see what previous customers have had to say.
  • Ask opinions about the breeder from previous clients who are not your relative or best friend.
  • Visit the breeder’s home or location to see how they are taking care of all of their cats, no matter if they are newborns or in their adult years.

It is important to do your own research online before you continue with the purchasing process. If you leave this step out, you may be left disappointed and potentially have an emptier wallet than you started with. In addition, you will quickly find that every breeder is not what they make themselves out to be when you look around.

Questions to Ask Cat Breeders

Something especially important to have with you as you are looking for breeders is a list of questions you would like to know. How they respond to you can give great insight into how they treat the animals they breed.  Here are some sample questions you may want to ask a cat breeder:

  • Who are the Siamese cat’s parents?
  • How old will the cat be when you bring her home?
  • How does the breeder raise their kittens?
  • What does the breeder feed their kittens?
  • Do the kittens get vaccinations?
  • What is included in the cost to the cat breeder?
  • How do their kittens get socialized?

While you ask these questions, be sure to get your answer and pay attention to how the breeder is answering your questions. Notice their attitude when answering something and if they appear frustrated or not. See if they give you an answer or if the breeder is trying to turn the conversation off-topic.

Purebred Siamese Cat Cost

Siamese cats that come from breeders will usually be more expensive due to them coming with a pedigree. However, this piece of paper is rarely guaranteed when adopting a cat from the local shelter or rescue, and because of this information, breeders will increase their selling prices.

The price will depend on each breeder and their preferences. Typically, however, the price of a Siamese cat can range anywhere from $600 to $3500. This is determined by a variety of things, such as:

  • Veterinary visits
  • Premium cat food
  • Litter
  • Registration costs
  • Spay or Neuter

When looking for breeders in the United States, you can find many great ones by searching “Siamese cat breeders near me.” After this is done, prepare to do your research.

How Much Money Does a Siamese Cat Cost?

I did original research on three Siamese cat breeders in order to give you a good sense of how much a Siamese cat costs from a cat breeder.  Depending on the Siamese cat breeder, you may get a different cost.  See a breakdown of Siamese cat costs below:

Siamese CatteryApproximate CostSource
Black & Tan Siamese$600-$1500Black & Tan Website
Rosebud’s Siamese$800Rosebud’s Website
Blue Eyes Cattery$3500 All-inclusive CostBlue Eyes Website

Black & Tan Siamese Cattery

Black & Tan Cattery charges an approximate range of $600-$1500 for Siamese cats.  They think about operating expenses when pricing their Siamese kittens.  Veterinary visits prior to sale should be included in this overall cost.

The Siamese cats will receive vaccinations, but as the owner, you should expect to continue this process after you take ownership since sometimes certain vaccines are given at different kitten ages.

Rosebud’s Siamese Cattery

Rosebud’s Siamese Cattery charges approximately $800 per Siamese kitten.  Expect to pay a non-refundable $300 fee to have them place a hold on a Siamese kitten for you.  If you use PayPal, you should expect the fees to total $310 for deposit and $515 for the rest of the balance due to PayPal fees.

Rosebud’s Siamese Cattery used to ship cats to customers but does not ship any longer. However, they do offer a discounted $100 price if you buy more than one Siamese kitten (or if you are a repeat customer).

Blue Eyes Cattery

Blue Eyes Cattery charges an all-inclusive price of $3500 for Siamese kittens for sale.  This cost covers all the necessary things to raise a healthy pedigreed Siamese kitten, many of which we listed above (spay or neuter, registration, etc.).

Blue Eyes Cattery wants you to think about your Siamese kitten costs as investing in the 15-20 years of love that they will bring to your household. With Blue Eyes Cattery, you will be investing in a high-quality Siamese kitten.

Where Can I Find a Siamese Kitten?

If you are looking for a Siamese kitten, you should look at cat rescues (some specialized for Siamese cats), animal shelters, and Siamese cat breeders. However, it will be less likely that you’ll find a Siamese kitten at a rescue or animal shelter.

You will be much more successful securing a Siamese kitten through a cat breeder.  If I were personally looking for a Siamese kitten, I would focus my time finding the right Siamese cat breeder for me, which matched my own ethics around how they raise their kittens.

Where Can I Adopt a Siamese Cat?

You can adopt a Siamese cat at a cat rescue or animal shelter.  My personal strategy for trying to find a Siamese cat from a cat rescue or animal shelter would be as follows:

  1. Look online to locate the cat rescues and animal shelters nearby (i.e., in my own county and maybe one or two other nearby counties).
  2. I would check their websites weekly to see the updates about their cats.
  3. I would directly reach out to them to let them know what I’m looking for so that they might reach out to me when they have an available Siamese cat.
  4. If they ask me to get pre-approved or do a background check, I would probably do this.
  5. I would get on good terms with the staff.  If I’m looking at rescues or animal shelters for a Siamese cat, then I am probably trying to avoid spending the money that it would cost through a breeder.  This means you might need to spend more time networking with the cat rescue or animal shelter personnel.

Conclusion

Siamese cats are awesome and more people should try to own one.  The three best places to find a Siamese cat are rescue centers, animal shelters, and Siamese cat breeders.

Finding a Siamese cat in a rescue center or an animal shelter is an affordable way to get one of the most intelligent and coolest looking cats. In addition, finding the right Siamese cat from a breeder means you will get a high-quality purebred Siamese cat.

Here are some of my favorite cat products

In addition to checking out some other More Meows articles, I hope you’ll check out some of my favorite cat products as well.  These are affiliate links, so if you end up using them, I’ll get a commission at no extra cost to you.  These are the products I really do find most helpful.

Litter Box:  I started out with normal, traditional litter boxes for my cat.  Then, I tried this automatic litter box on Amazon (affiliate link), which helped reduce the litter upkeep.  Finally, I am now a believer in the Litter-Robot 3 Connect on Amazon (affiliate link).  This robotic litter box is not for everyone based on the price tag, but for me the benefits (very little upkeep, works efficiently, clean, mobile app) far outweighed the cost.

My Cat’s Litter-Robot 3 Connect (with night light on) – See the link above the photo!

Cat Tree:  I have purchased a couple of this Amazon Basics Cat Tree on Amazon (affiliate link).  My cat spends a lot of time on and around this cat tree, which I position near my sofa.  She uses the scratching posts on this cat tree multiple times a day, which means she is not scratching the sofa instead.

Cat Water Fountain:  I love this cat water fountain on Amazon (affiliate link).  There are three main benefits to having a water fountain like this for your cat.  The first benefit is that it keeps water running so that your cat doesn’t need to drink still water.  The second benefit is that it filters the water.  The third benefit is that it will keep your cat hydrated!
